Klong Muang is Krabi's most recent beach destination. It is aiming upmarket
with 5 star and boutique hotels like the Sheraton Krabi Resort ,
the Nakamanda and the Tubkaak Resort located here.
Unlike Ao Nang it doesn't have the impressive cliffs towering over
the beach like some of the other main beaches, but what it does have is powdered white sand that stretches
far into the distance for about 3 kilometres.

Klong Muang is fairly undisturbed, almost available
solely for its exclusive guests and a few local fishermen. The beach
seems to go on forever along the coast, with a small island at one
end, which is home to local seabirds and rockpools full of life.
It's the kind of beach, you can just sit and contemplate, and is
a great spot to view the spectacular sunset. Dozens of tiny islands
lie dotted on the horizon and to the south, at Laem Ham Nak, is
a Royal residence of the Prince.
The local village at the back of the beach is still in its infancy
with a few shops, but does have the obligatory tailor's shop and
a handful of restaurants. Nightlife is minimal, if you want nightlife
and loud music you need to head into Ao Nang.
Klong Muang has excellent food, good company, and a moonlight
stroll along the beach makes up the nightlife. Klong Muang is maintaining
a low profile, which is why the five star hotels are located there. |
