Surin is one of the more crowded beaches in Phuket with sunbeds as far as the eye can see and some places all the way down to the sea. You don't go here if you want a beach for yourself.
When that is said, there is a good reason for its popularity. One of them is the incredibly clear water that Surin is so famous for. When you first have been swimming in the perfect crystal clear water at Surin, you will never again go back to Patong Beach!
When hunger calls, sit down at one of the countless small beach restaurants lining the beach. Both Thai and western food is served and I am sure you will find your own favorite place where you can watch the sunset whilst drinking a cold Chang beer.
When bored of swimming and sunbathing, the beach has watersports like parasailing, banana boat, jet skies, water skies...
For snorkeling go to the south end of the beach where lots of colorful tropical fish swim along the rocks. There are also a few corals but nothing special.
At the north end is a palm fringed hill where beach vendors take a break after their hard work trying to sell you everything from peanuts to Thai silk.
Surin is a quiet area where there are not much to do, but party mecca Patong are only 15 mins drive to the south.
Behind the beach is a large park that separates the beach from the road where the two popular resorts, Surin Beach Resort and Twinpalms Resort are located, 100-200 meters from the beach. The park was more than 60 years ago Phuket's first golf course.
